Flor de Mayo – waltz for PBS Documentary “Hemingway”
NEW TODAY: I wrote a waltz!
I’ve written many waltzes over the years, but this time it’s for a Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary film about Hemingway — the waltz, commissioned by my dear cousin Johnny Gandelsman (who also plays the violin here), is titled “Flor de Mayo” and — as any seasoned Upper West Sider will surely recognise — it is titled after the restaurant where it was composed. The soundtrack album is released today and you can hear the waltz, or via your streaming dispensary of choice. You can even buy a CD. The film itself comes out April 5-7 on PBS. Enjoy!
