Dear Friends,
Having not released any albums in 2023 or 2024, I'd like to start 2025 off with a short new release -- a few weeks ago, spurned by a chance encounter with Max Richter's "Recomposed" project, I took about an hour to record Antonio Vivaldi's ever-popular "Spring" from "The Four Seasons" -- and, as you might expect, I did it in my own way -- without sheet music, arrangements or click tracks, instead recording everything "by ear", multitracking my fadolín in the same fashion that I recorded my debut album some years ago. What could go wrong?
The resulting recording revealed to me the infectiousness of Vivaldi's motifs, how they morphed in my memory, how they could be spontaneously cobbled together into a new direction, the hidden contemporary and folkloric dance beats nestled within the baroque rhythms, and, for all of you pet lovers - a more prominent feature for Vivaldi's famous barking dog.
I'm really excited for you to hear it! Listen at the Bandcamp link below, at your favorite streaming music dispensary, or, if you have Apple Music, Tidal or Amazon, listen to this album in a gorgeous Dolby ATMOS mix by my longtime collaborator James Sizemore.
Enjoy + thank you!,
Ljova
