Last week’s concert of my music by my dad, Alexander Zhurbin– at New York Public Library, Lincoln Center, was one for the books. There was the US premiere of his new Clarinet Quintet (“Paris Mon Amour”) and excerpts from a new vocal cycle, (“Five Cruel Ballades”), as well as appearances by Trio Fadolín, Sam Sadigursky, Miranda Cuckson, my wife Inna Barmash and my mom Irena Ginzburg, and the vocal duo of Niko Klaas and Olya Gella— I’m so grateful to all of the musicians who joined us on stage, and to the loving audience in the hall, to help us celebrate his 80th birthday.

Here sharing a set of photos by our son Yosif who documented the event. Though his primary focus is sports photography, his concert photos capture so much of the magic of the event. (Do you need a concert photographer?)

I know what a great gift this is and will treasure it for a lifetime.

Thank you all
