The house where my great grandmother lived may now be a parking lot, but a couple of weeks ago, on a trip through Latvia and Lithuania, Inna and I walked along the same streets, and played a very special concert at the only remaining synagogue in Daugavpils (formerly known as Dvinsk or Dinaburg). Once home to a approximately 32,000 Jews, Daugavpils now has a Jewish population of just 35. Many of them came out to see us — and we were so grateful to see them.
Over the past year Inna has been diligently learning guitar and accompanied herself on a few selections.
Many thanks to Iosif Rochko, director of the Museum “Jews in Daugavpils and Latgale” for organizing.
