Description

You may not instantly recognize the name Miska Borzó but you’ve likely heard his music, for it is he who composed the piece that’s commonly known as Brahms’s Hungarian Dance No. 1 (originally titled “Isteni Csárdás).

“Borzó’s Csárdás” (otherwise known by the name: “Andalgó és Friss” or, “Ambling and Fresh”) is a popular piece of Hungarian salon music (verbunkos) in the strange key of B-flat minor, and was first heard by Ljova on this incredible recording by Imre Magyari:

Ljova’s arrangement is based on Magyari’s recording above, as well as on a different period recording by Emery Deutsch:

For the convenience of playing with other harmony players (cimbalom, accordion), the first violin part of this arrangement includes chord symbols.

Enjoy!
