Souparest
Though the overall culinary situation in Bucharest has been paltry thus far, the soup situation at directly across the street from our offices is superb. They make a great “vegetable soup” (pictured here). I’m told that they make a great “chicken soup” – which is the exact same soup, plus chicken. (I can’t detect any essence of chicken broth here, though.)
Otherwise, the staple foods are ham, pork, yellow cheese, white bread, and more ham.
Strangely in comparison with Budapest, I’ve yet to find any menus in English. Yet, the overall English comprehension by the locals is far greater.
matzoh ball soup still great at Koleves…
for any Budapest travellers – Koleves is a MUST!
