Sicilienne was inspired by the its namesake, the "Sicilienne" within the "Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet" by Ernest Chausson, which I had the great pleasure of performing with the violinist Lara St. John and friends. I aimed to create a lilting, peaceful dance -- of course, in imperceptibly changing meters.
