In partnership with the Ford Theatres, The Music Center On Location presents Aszure Barton’s “Awáa”, with a score by Curtis MacDonald and Ljova, which was the inaugural winner of the Charles and Joan Gross Family Foundation Prize for collaboration between choreographer and composers. The music Ljova composed for “Awáa” formed the basis for his album “Melting River”. Ljova treasures “Awáa” as one of his favorite choreographer-composer collaborations to date. |Brooklyn Rider has commissioned a new string quartet from Ljova, “Culai”, which they’ve recently recorded for Mercury Classics. The Quartet had previously recorded Ljova’s works on its debut CD “Passport” and has recorded Ljova’s arrangements of Persian music on its collaboration with the Persian kamanche master Kayhan Kalhor, “Silent City”. |The Enso Quartet has performed Ljova’s “Bagel on the Malecon” on tour since 2006. Watch YouTube video of Enso Quartet’s performance of “Bagel on the Malecon”.|
|Violinist Tim Fain performs Ljova’s Sicilienne composition for violin and piano on his tours and has recorded the composition for his debut Naxos release.|
|Spark, a young contemporary music ensemble based in Germany, have recently recorded their debut album on Deutsche Grammophon, for which they’ve recorded two of Ljova’s works. To hear sounds, and details of their upcoming tour, visit:

|A Far Cry,Boston’s proudly unconducted chamber orchestra performed Ljova and Osvaldo Golijov’s arrangement of the Taraf de Haidouks’ tune “Turceasca” in a series of concerts. Here’s one orchestra member’s take on the arrangement and premiere performance: “Tackling Turceasca”|

|Romashka, a NY-based fiddle-brass dance party band performs several of Ljova’s compositions written for the band’s Eastern European dance repertoire. Ljova also plays the viola and famiola in the band. Check out Romashka’s website for more about the band.|
